Tomorrow is the last *free* taster session for the keep fit group organised by Blade Fit PT in association with HAVA Big Local.
HAVA residents are pulling their socks up as the last free taster session organised by Blade Fitness in association with HAVA Big Local, takes place tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd June, at 6.30pm on Hawksworth Rec. The month-long programme has seen nearly 40 hours of physical training delivered to local residents and has laid the groundwork for regular sessions in the future, with a 10 week long training programme now planned.
The sessions are run by Chris Stryder from local fitness training company Blade Fitness. HAVA volunteer coordinator Sam Beswick conceived and organised the idea after seeing the popularity of similar events on Kirkstall Abbey Park. Sam’s also backing the scheme 100% by taking part in all the sessions herself! The group has proven so popular that HAVA Big Local is currently securing funding to help make it a regular fixture for the area.
HAVA Big Local chairman Duncan Scobie commented: “This is exactly the sort of thing HAVA is about – it’s a great community event, encourages health and fitness, allows users to acquire new skills and training, and takes place in the green spaces that we’re so fortunate to be surrounded by in this area. We’re doing our best to make sure that Chris and his class can continue the great work that’s been started.”
Session starts at 6.30pm on Hawksworth Rec, near the Hawksworth Wood Conservative Club. Bring comfortable clothing, sporty shoes – and a can-do attitude!
